February 2021, Djassi shares her multi-hyphenate journey with Girls Write Now. Girls Write Now is New York’s first and only writing and mentoring organization for girls and gender non-conforming youth.

In this video presentation, the lyrics to “Civil War,” a song performed by the folk singer Joan Baez, are expressed through the act of a waltz. Directed and conceived by NYU professor Deborah Willis and choreographed by dancer Djassi Dacosta Johnson, the film presents a performance by Johnson and Kevin Boseman, dressed in 19th-century costume. Their bodies move in lyrical precision as historical and contemporary photographs are projected behind them. Antique portraits of the Civil War’s black soldiers and domestic workers overlay the dancers’ play on tension and resolution, bringing the collective memory of conflict to the forefront of modern consciousness.

DJASSI COMPLETING MINI DOCUMENTARY ABOUT ACOSTA DANZA

AFTER COMPLETING HER MFA IN DANC,E & TECHNOLOGY MFA, Djassi received a SPOTLIGHT  from Tisch Dance for her research work in Cuba as a Dance & Technology concentration.

Djassi did her Thesis research work in Cuba working with ACOSTA DANZA , in the mediums of photography, film and interviews . She plans to present her photography and mini-documentary in a solo show in Fall 2018.

Djassi sat on a panel about Reclaiming Sensuality and what sexual agency means for women in healing and heightening their sexual selves in December 2018 at Ode To Babel in Brooklyn, NYC. Djassi has been writing and talking about the Divine Goddess, sexual liberation and exploration from the perspective of a fluid, female centered gaze for over 10 years and is currently developing a book and documentary project to contribute to the universal re-awakening of the Divine Feminine and Goddess culture.
